Exodus 20:17

You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

The word covet does not come up in everyday language much. But it certainly is a part of everyday life! The definition for coveting is: to desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others. Behind this is a heart of ingratitude, selfishness and a belief that God has somehow withheld something from us. "I sure wish I had one of those... or, "why isn't my spouse more like them...or, "why do I have to stay in this job...?"

Wanting what we don't have displays that we are not satisfied with God's provision in our life. "I deserve better than this!" And, "I know what I need better than God does." When we believe that God is infinitely good, and we remember that he alone is sovereign, we can set all coveting aside. Another way of translating this command would be, "Be satisfied with what your generous God has given you!"

2:1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; 2:2 Before the decree bring forth, [before] the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger come upon you. 2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger. 2:4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

When you pray, does it feel like you're trying to unlock a door with the wrong set of keys? Does it seem like nothing works? I want to help you discover things that I've learned to do when nothing else works. The enemy has held back your miracle long enough--you've prayed long enough--hoped long enough--believed long enough and held on long enough.

I'd like you to tune into Breakthrough today, when a mighty army of intercessors including my wife, Miss Joni, will join with me in prayer. If you haven't sent your prayer request, click here to send me your greatest need and we'll take your request to God and watch for the glorious outpouring and anointing of Jesus Christ on your situation. You can also watch Breakthrough online if you have missed one of these important messages on "What to do When Nothing Works."

Are there times when you try to hold onto something that God is calling you to release? Has God told you to relinquish something, but you find yourself struggling to retain it? In all things, there is giving and receiving, entering and leaving, going in and going out.
